UPSC NDA-II Examination 2025Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or certain East African countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Marital Status: Only unmarried male / female candidates are eligible. Marriage during the course of training is strictly prohibited.
  • For Army Wing of NDA: Candidate must have passed the 12th Class (10+2 Pattern) examination or equivalent from a recognized Board.
  • For Air Force, Naval Wings of NDA and 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at Indian Naval Academy: Candidate must have passed 12th Class (10+2 Pattern) examination or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics from a recognized Board.
  • Candidates appearing in the 12th Class examination are also eligible to apply, provided they submit proof of passing by the stipulated date.
  • Candidate must be physically and medically fit as per the physical standards laid down by the Ministry of Defence.

  1. Stage 1 — Written Examination (Objective Type): Mathematics (300 Marks) + General Ability Test (600 Marks) = Total 900 Marks.

  2. Complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) / Universal Registration by creating an account and filling the Common Application Form.
  3. Log in and click on the link for 'National Defence Academy & Naval Academy Examination (II), 2025'.
  4. Fill the examination-specific module carefully — select preferences of services (Army/Navy/Air Force/Naval Academy) in order of priority.
  5. Upload required documents — recent photograph, signature, photo ID proof (Aadhaar recommended), and other certificates as specified.

Recruitment Note: Training Duration & Course Commencement

Successful candidates will join the 156th Course of NDA (Army/Navy/Air Force Wings) and the 118th Indian Naval Academy Course (INAC) commencing from 1st July 2026. The NDA training is of 3 years duration at Khadakwasla, Pune, followed by 1 year of pre-commissioning training at respective service academies (IMA Dehradun / INA Ezhimala / AFA Dundigal).

Recruitment Note: Stipend During Training

Cadets receive a monthly stipend of ₹56,100/- during the training period at NDA/INA, in addition to free boarding, lodging, books, uniform and medical facilities.

Recruitment Note: Service Liability / Bond

Candidates who join the NDA and get commissioned into Indian Armed Forces are required to serve for a minimum pensionable service period as per respective service rules. Withdrawal during training attracts bond liability as specified by the Ministry of Defence.

Recruitment Note: Physical Standards

Candidates must meet the prescribed physical and medical standards laid down in Appendix-III of the notification. Standards vary for Army, Navy and Air Force — including minimum height (generally 157 cm for Army/Navy, 162.5 cm for Air Force), chest expansion, vision requirements and overall medical fitness.

Recruitment Note: Previously Withdrawn Candidates

Candidates who were previously removed from NDA or INA on disciplinary grounds or for lack of officer-like qualities are not eligible to re-apply. Those withdrawn on medical grounds or voluntarily may apply again, subject to fulfilling all conditions.

In case of tie in aggregate final marks — (i) Candidate with higher written total ranks higher, (ii) If still tied, candidate with higher marks in Paper-II (GAT) ranks higher, (iii) If still tied, the candidate senior in age ranks higher.
