Short Information: The Sikkim Public Service Commission has invited applications from eligible local candidates to fill 69 posts of Village Level Worker (VLW) on a temporary-regular basis under the Agriculture and Horticulture Department, Government of Sikkim, through Direct Recruitment. Selected candidates will be placed in Level-9 of the Pay Matrix, though during the Probation/Apprenticeship/Training period, pay will be governed separately as per Notification No. 489/GEN/DOP dated 31.10.2011. This role requires a specific technical qualification — a B.Sc. in Agriculture or Horticulture from an ICAR-recognized university or institute, and candidates holding an M.Sc. in any Agriculture or Horticulture discipline must also mandatorily possess this B.Sc. qualification to be eligible. What makes this recruitment distinctive is its detailed layered reservation structure spanning Unreserved, Bhutia-Lepcha, OBC (Central and State lists), Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Primitive Tribe, Most Backward Classes, and Weaker Section of Society, each with dedicated sub-quotas for Women and BPL candidates. Additionally, horizontal reservations exist for Persons with Disabilities, Sports Persons and Artisans of Excellence, Ex-Servicemen, and Paramilitary Forces & Assam Rifles personnel. The application deadline is 31 August 2026, and candidates must be between 18 and 40 years of age as on that date, while also being conversant with local Sikkimese customs, traditions, and at least one State language.
