Short Information: State Bank of India (SBI) has released the detailed notification for engagement of Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961 vide Advertisement No. CRPD/APPR/2026-27/07. Online applications are open from 19 May 2026 to 08 June 2026 for 7,150 training seats across 34 States and Union Territories.
Selected apprentices will receive a fixed monthly stipend of ₹15,000 per month for the entire one-year training period. No other allowances or benefits are payable. However, one of the most attractive aspects of this program is the weightage/relaxation in SBI Junior Associate (Clerk) recruitment given to candidates who successfully complete the apprenticeship and obtain the joint National Apprenticeship Certificate issued by SBI-NSDC/BFSI-SSC.
The application fee is ₹300 for General/OBC/EWS candidates and ₹0 for SC/ST/PwBD. Age limit is 20 to 28 years as on 01 April 2026 (born between 02 April 1998 and 01 April 2006). The minimum qualification is a Graduation in any stream from a recognized University/Institute.
Candidates can apply for only ONE state. A mandatory NAPS portal registration at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in is required before applying. The online exam is tentatively scheduled in July 2026. Selection involves an Online Written Test (100 marks, 60 minutes) followed by a Local Language Test.

SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026Eligibility Criteria
- Nationality: Indian Citizen only.
- Educational Qualification: Graduation in any stream from a recognized University/Institute (as on 01/04/2026).
- Age: Minimum 20 years and maximum 28 years as on 01/04/2026. Born between 02/04/1998 and 01/04/2006 (both days inclusive) for UR/EWS.
- Prior Apprenticeship Bar (CRITICAL): Candidates who have previously undergone or are currently pursuing Apprenticeship training in SBI or any other organization under the Apprenticeship Act 1961 are NOT eligible.
- Work Experience Bar (CRITICAL): Candidates who have had training or job experience of one year or more after attaining their educational qualification shall NOT be eligible.
- Ex-Servicemen: Not eligible for Apprentice engagement. No reservation for Ex-Servicemen/Disabled Ex-Servicemen.
- NAPS Registration (Mandatory): All candidates must register on the NAPS portal https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in before applying on SBI's portal.
- Local Language Proficiency: Candidates must be proficient (reading, writing, speaking, understanding) in at least one specified local language of the state they are applying for.
- CIBIL: Candidates who have defaulted on loan/credit card repayments with any Bank/NBFC/Financial Institution and not regularized/repaid by the date of issuance of offer of engagement are NOT eligible.
- One State Only: Candidates can apply for engagement in ONE state only and can appear for the examination only once under this engagement.
- OBC: Must belong to Non-Creamy Layer. Creamy Layer OBC must apply as General.
- EWS: Must have 'Income and Asset Certificate' for FY 2025-26, valid for year 2026-27. Without this, must apply under General category.
- Aadhaar: Mandatory for all candidates (except those from Northeastern States where alternate ID proof is accepted) before signing the contract for Apprenticeship Training.

Recruitment Details: Exam Overview
- Mode: Online Computer Based Test (Objective Type).
- Total Questions: 100 | Total Marks: 100 | Total Duration: 60 Minutes.
- Section-wise Timing: Each section has a separate time limit of 15 minutes — candidates cannot switch between sections freely.
- Negative Marking: Yes — 1/4th mark (0.25) deducted for every wrong answer.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: Decided by the Bank on aggregate. SC/ST/OBC/PwBD get 5% relaxation on aggregate qualifying marks. No minimum marks for individual sections.
- Merit List: Drawn State-wise and Category-wise in descending order of aggregate marks. Tie-breaking by age in descending order.
- Exam Medium: English + Hindi for most states; additional regional languages available (see table below).
- Exam Date: Tentatively July 2026.

SBI Apprentice Recruitment 2026How to Apply
- STEP 1 — NAPS Registration (Mandatory First): Visit https://apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and register on the NAPS portal. Also read guidelines on https://bfsissc.com. This step is mandatory BEFORE applying on SBI portal.
- STEP 2 — Visit SBI Careers: Go to https://sbi.bank.in/web/careers/current-openings or https://www.sbi.co.in/careers and click on 'Engagement of Apprentices in SBI'.
- STEP 3 — Online Registration: Click on 'Apply Online'. Fill in the registration form with valid email ID and mobile number. Note down the provisional registration number and password generated.
- STEP 4 — Fill Application: Complete the online application form carefully — personal details, educational qualification, state preference (one state only), district preference (up to 3 districts within the state), local language opted, and Aadhaar details.
- STEP 5 — Upload Documents: Upload scanned Photograph (200×230 px, 20–50 KB, JPG), Signature (140×60 px, 10–20 KB, black ink on white paper), Left Thumb Impression (240×240 px, 20–50 KB), and Handwritten Declaration (800×400 px, 50–100 KB, in English only in candidate's own handwriting).
- STEP 6 — Pay Fee: Pay ₹300 (Gen/OBC/EWS) or ₹0 (SC/ST/PwBD) via debit card / credit card / internet banking. Save the e-receipt. Fee is non-refundable.
- STEP 7 — Submit: Review all details and submit. No changes are allowed after final submission. Take a printout of the system-generated application form.
- Call Letters: Download call letter and 'Acquaint Yourself' booklet tentatively in June 2026 from SBI website using registration number and password/date of birth. No hard copy sent by post.
- ID at Exam: Carry one original photo ID (Aadhaar / PAN / Passport / Voter ID / Driving License / Bank Passbook with photo) along with a self-attested photocopy.
