Short Information: Oil India Limited (OIL), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, has opened applications for 10 senior officer-level positions in Grade D/E/F across six specialised disciplines — Deputy Chief Chemist, Deputy Chief Geologist, Deputy Chief Engineer (Reservoir), Deputy Chief Geophysicist, Deputy Chief Engineer (Safety & Environment), and Economist.
These are premium roles in India's upstream oil & gas sector. The starting basic pay in Grade D is ₹90,000/month with a gross package of approximately ₹1,70,000 per month at the minimum of scale — and Grade E/F officers earn around ₹2,00,000 per month gross. - Deputy Chief Chemist (CHEM-01): PG Degree in Chemistry (min. 02 years duration, min. 60% marks or equivalent CGPA/Grade) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics studied at graduation level; PLUS minimum 09 years of post-qualification relevant work experience as Chemist (Drilling/Workover Operations) or Drilling Fluid Specialist. Oil & Gas sector experience preferred.
- Deputy Chief Geologist (GEO-02): PG Degree in Geology/Applied Geology (min. 02 years, min. 60% or equivalent CGPA/Grade) with Mathematics at graduation level; PLUS minimum 09 years of post-qualification experience as Geologist. Upstream Oil & Gas sector experience preferred.

- All qualifications must be full-time/regular from Universities/Institutions recognized by appropriate statutory authorities in India. Distance/part-time qualifications are also eligible if duly recognized by the relevant statutory authority for Central Government posts.
- Post-Qualification Experience means ONLY full-time executive cadre experience acquired AFTER completing the minimum essential educational qualification. Academic, teaching, research, JRF/SRF, PhD Scholar, Project Associate, consultancy, honorary, part-time, ad-hoc, apprenticeship, internship, or stipend-based engagements are NOT counted.
- Candidates in regular employment with Govt./PSU must have minimum 2 years of service in the next lower pay scale as on 28/06/2026 (IDA equivalent as per Table-III of the notification).
- Candidates from private sector organizations must belong to companies with minimum annual turnover of ₹500 Crore.
- Candidates in current Govt./PSU employment must produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) at the time of Personal Interview. Without NOC, candidates will not be allowed to appear and travel fare will not be reimbursed.
- Percentage of marks must NOT be rounded off. CGPA/OGPA must be converted to percentage as per institute norms.

- Step 1 — Online Application Scrutiny: Applications will be screened for minimum essential educational qualifications, post-qualification work experience, and age limit as on 28/06/2026.
- Step 2 — Shortlisting: Only eligible/shortlisted candidates will be notified for the Personal Interview. If applications are very large in number, OIL may raise the minimum eligible standards to restrict the number of candidates called for PI.
- Step 3 — Personal Interview (PI): Shortlisted candidates will appear for a Personal Interview. Selection is made solely on the basis of marks obtained in the PI, subject to fulfillment of all eligibility criteria and successful document verification.
- Step 4 — Document Verification: All documents (educational qualifications, experience certificates, category certificates, DOB proof, NOC etc.) will be verified in original at the time of Personal Interview.
- Step 5 — Pre-Employment Medical Examination (PEME): Provisionally selected candidates must undergo PEME at OIL Hospital, Duliajan, Assam or at an empanelled hospital. Appointment is subject to being declared medically fit by OIL's Medical Board.
- Final Selection: Based on PI performance, document verification, and medical fitness. Provisionally selected candidates serve a 1-year probationary period before confirmation.

Recruitment Details: Selection Process Overview
- Mode: Personal Interview (PI) only — no written test, no online exam.
- No Negative Marking — No written exam is conducted at all.
- Shortlisting for PI will be based on eligibility screening of application data.
- OIL may raise the bar (restrict candidates) if applications received are very large in number.
