Recruitment Note: About NPCIL — Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited

Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL) is a premier Government of India Public Sector Enterprise under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). Incorporated in 1987 with CIN U40104MH1987GOI149458, NPCIL is responsible for design, construction, commissioning, and operation of nuclear power plants across India. With a comprehensive capability spanning site selection, plant construction, waste management, and decommissioning — all under one roof — NPCIL currently operates 24 nuclear reactors with an installed capacity of over 7,480 MW and has several more units under construction. The corporation contributes significantly to India's clean energy goals and operates plants in states including Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat. Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), located at Kalpakkam in Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu, is one of NPCIL's oldest and most prominent stations, operational since 1983, running two Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors (PHWRs) of 220 MW each. It is also home to India's Fast Breeder Reactor program.

Recruitment Note: Job Profile — Nature of Apprenticeship Training at NPCIL MAPS

Apprenticeship at NPCIL Madras Atomic Power Station is a structured, hands-on industrial training program lasting up to 1 year. Trade Apprentices work alongside experienced plant engineers and technicians in areas like mechanical fitting, electrical maintenance, precision machining, welding, and instrumentation — gaining exposure to a nuclear power plant environment that very few industrial training programs in India can offer. Diploma and Graduate Apprentices are mentored in their respective functional departments — HR, Contracts, Finance, Health Physics (radiation safety), or Chemical Lab — and handle real departmental work under supervision. The training environment is highly safety-regulated given MAPS's nuclear facility status. Apprentices must follow all plant safety protocols, undergo security clearance, and are not permitted to bring any electronic communication devices inside the plant premises.

Recruitment Note: Benefits & Perks of NPCIL Apprenticeship

While apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act-1961 does not carry the perks of a permanent government job, NPCIL MAPS apprenticeship comes with meaningful advantages. Stipends are paid monthly directly to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts — ₹9,600 to ₹12,300 per month depending on category. Apprentices gain hands-on experience in a nuclear power plant, which is extremely rare and highly valued in core engineering PSUs like BHEL, L&T, NTPC, and other DAE entities during future job applications. The experience certificate from NPCIL MAPS significantly strengthens a candidate's resume for any PSU technical recruitment. NPCIL also encourages gender balance and actively invites women candidates. Apprentices benefit from working in a clean, structured, safety-first environment that builds both technical competence and professional discipline.

Recruitment Note: Important Conditions & Disqualifications

Candidates must note these critical conditions: (1) This is a training engagement, not a job offer — NPCIL is not obligated to offer employment after training, and apprentices are not obligated to accept any offer. (2) Candidates who have already undergone or are undergoing apprenticeship anywhere under the Apprentices Act-1961 are strictly ineligible. (3) Absconded apprentices from previous programs are permanently barred. (4) NPCIL reserves the right to cancel or modify seats in any trade without assigning any reason. (5) Providing false information, suppressing facts, impersonation, or submitting forged documents at any stage will result in immediate disqualification, cancellation of apprenticeship, and debarment from all future NPCIL engagements. (6) A contract of apprenticeship must be entered into with NPCIL under the Apprentices Act-1961 and terminates automatically on completion of the training period.

Recruitment Note: Documents Required at Time of Verification

Candidates must carry originals along with self-attested copies of the following at the time of document verification: (1) Birth Certificate / SSC Marksheet (Date of Birth proof); (2) 10th and 12th marksheets (8th marksheet additionally for Welder trade); (3) ITI/Diploma/Graduate Degree certificate and all semester/year marksheets; (4) Caste Certificate in Central Government format (for SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates); (5) Valid Income and Assets Certificate (for EWS candidates, valid as on 30/06/2026); (6) Disability Certificate from Competent Authority (for PwBD candidates, minimum 40% disability); (7) Police Verification Certificate from District Police Authority; (8) Character/Conduct Certificate from institution; (9) Aadhaar Card (compulsory); (10) 4 recent passport-size photographs; (11) Residential proof if claiming 16 km proximity preference; (12) Copy of Apprentice Registration from NAPS 2.0 or NATS 2.0 portal; (13) CGPA conversion formula certificate from institution (if applicable).
