Short Information: Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Madras Atomic Power Station (MAPS), Kalpakkam, Tamil Nadu has released 158 apprenticeship seats across three categories — Trade Apprentice (124 seats), Diploma Apprentice (18 seats), and Graduate Apprentice (16 seats) — under the Apprentices Act, 1961.
This is a structured, paid training program at one of India's premier nuclear power facilities. Trade Apprentices earn ₹9,600/month (after 1-year ITI) or ₹10,560/month (after 2-year ITI), Diploma Apprentices receive ₹10,900/month, and Graduate Apprentices (Non-Engineering) receive ₹12,300/month. NPCIL MAPS Apprentice Recruitment 2026Eligibility Criteria
- Trade Apprentice: Must hold ITI Pass Certificate in the respective trade from a recognized institution (Full-Time/Regular mode). Minimum age 18 years, maximum 24 years as on 30/06/2026.
- Diploma Apprentice: Must hold a Diploma Pass Certificate in Engineering/Technology granted by a State Council/Board of Technical Education or University/Institute recognized by State or Central Government (Full-Time/Regular mode). Minimum age 18 years, maximum 25 years as on 30/06/2026.
- Graduate Apprentice (Non-Engineering): Must hold a Graduate Degree in non-engineering or general streams (BA, B.Sc., B.Com., etc.) from a College/University recognized by AICTE/UGC/State/Central Government (Full-Time/Regular mode). Minimum age 21 years, maximum 28 years as on 30/06/2026.
- Diploma and Graduate applicants must have passed their qualifying exam within the last 5 years from the last date of application (30/06/2026) to be eligible under NATS 2.0.
- Candidates who have already undergone or are currently undergoing Apprenticeship under the Apprentices Act-1961 in any Government, PSU, or Private Industrial Organisation are NOT eligible to apply.
- Absconded apprentice candidates from any previous training are NOT eligible to apply.
- PwBD candidates must have a minimum of 40% benchmark disability as per prescribed categories.
- Applicants awarded CGPA/GPA/letter grades must produce authenticated percentage conversion formula from their University/Institute.
- Physical Fitness: Candidate must be free from contagious/infectious disease, Tuberculosis, and any condition likely to impair performance. Minimum Height: 137 cm; Weight: 25.4 kg; Chest Expansion: 3.8 cm.
- Police Verification Certificate from District Police Authority is mandatory (NPCIL MAPS is a highly prohibited area).
- Nationality: Indian citizen.
- Aadhaar card is compulsory and must be linked with bank account for stipend disbursement.

NPCIL MAPS Apprentice Recruitment 2026Selection Process Steps
- No Written Examination — Selection is purely merit-based on marks obtained in the qualifying examination (ITI / Diploma / Graduation).
- Priority: Candidates residing within 16 km radius of NPCIL MAPS Kalpakkam plant site will be given preference first. If all seats are not filled from neighbouring village applicants, merit list will be extended to other candidates.
- Tie-Breaking Rule 1: If two candidates have equal percentage of marks, the candidate born earlier (older in age) will be ranked higher.
- Tie-Breaking Rule 2: If Date of Birth is also the same, the candidate with higher percentage in Matriculation (10th) will be ranked higher.
- Medical Fitness Verification: All selected candidates must be declared medically fit by the Competent Authority as per NPCIL requirements.
- Document Verification: Candidature is provisional; original certificates will be verified before final engagement.

- Step 1 — Portal Registration (Mandatory): Trade Apprentices must register on NAPS 2.0 portal at https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. Diploma and Graduate Apprentices must register on NATS 2.0 portal at https://www.nats.education.gov.in. Ensure your Aadhaar is linked with your bank account before registering.
- Step 2 — Download Application Form: Download the prescribed application form (Annexure-1) from www.npcil.nic.in → HR Management → Opportunities.
- Step 3 — Fill Application: Fill the form completely in block letters. Affix a recent passport-size photograph in the designated space.
- Step 4 — Attach Self-Attested Documents: Attach self-attested copies of all required documents (see documents list in other details section). Incomplete applications will be summarily rejected.
- Step 5 — Send by Post: Send the duly filled application form with all enclosures by post to: Deputy Manager (HRM), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited, Madras Atomic Power Station, Kalpakkam – 603 102, Chengalpattu District, Tamil Nadu.
- Applications must physically reach NPCIL MAPS on or before 30/06/2026. Applications received after the last date for any reason will not be considered.
