Recruitment Note: About The New India Assurance Co. Ltd. (NIACL)

The New India Assurance Company Limited (NIACL), established in 1919 and headquartered at 87, M.G. Road, Fort, Mumbai, is India's largest public sector general insurance company and a wholly-owned Government of India undertaking. With CIN No. L66000MH1919GOI000526 and IRDA Registration No. 190, NIACL operates through an extensive network of 28 Regional Offices across all states and union territories of India. It offers a comprehensive portfolio of general insurance products including motor, health, fire, marine, crop, and rural insurance. NIACL also maintains an international presence with offices in multiple countries. As a listed Navratna PSU regulated by IRDAI, it is recognized for strong financial stability, consistent claim settlement performance, and significant contribution to India's insurance penetration goals under government social security schemes.

Recruitment Note: Job Profile — Apprentice

NIACL Apprentices are engaged for a structured 12-month on-the-job training programme at designated Regional/Divisional/Branch offices across India under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). During this period, trainees assist in insurance policy processing, claims documentation, underwriting support, customer service, data entry, and back-office operations. The training covers both theoretical components (assessed by BFSI Sector Skill Council) and practical components (assessed by the Company). Upon successful completion, an Apprenticeship Certificate is awarded by BFSI SSC. This is a training engagement — not an employment contract — and NIACL has no obligation to offer regular employment after completion, nor does the apprentice have any right to claim a job.

Recruitment Note: Benefits & Perks During Apprenticeship

The sole financial benefit is the fixed monthly stipend of ₹12,300, paid by the 10th of each following month. Apprentices are entitled to 1 day of leave per month (carried forward if unused, but not more than 2 days at a time). They also enjoy all Company holidays. No PF, ESI, staff mediclaim, HRA, LTC, gratuity, or pension benefits are applicable — these are exclusively for regular employees. However, the one-year training at a Navratna PSU provides valuable BFSI domain experience, directly useful for future NIACL Assistant/AO exams and other PSU insurance recruitment competitions.

Recruitment Note: Important Eligibility Conditions to Note

Three conditions are absolute disqualifiers that candidates must verify before applying: (1) Graduation passing date must be strictly between 01.01.2022 and 01.06.2026 — not year of enrolment but the date on the marksheet/certificate. (2) Candidates with 1 or more years of post-graduation work experience are ineligible. (3) Candidates who have previously undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training anywhere under the Apprentices Act 1961 are ineligible. Additionally, no Ex-Servicemen reservation exists for this engagement, and OBC Creamy Layer candidates must apply as General/UR category.

💡 Expert Tip

Two-portal registration is mandatory and candidates frequently miss this: you must FIRST register on https://nats.education.gov.in with 100% completed profile, THEN apply on https://beep.bfsissc.com with your NATS enrolment number. Incomplete profile on NATS = ineligible. Also, the graduation date window (01.01.2022–01.06.2026) is a hard cutoff — not just year of passing but the date printed on your marksheet or provisional certificate. If your result was published on a university website, you need a principal's certificate confirming the exact publication date. The Regional Language Test is conducted at document verification stage — candidates who studied the state's local language in 10th or 12th are exempted from the test, so carry those marksheets. Apply only for the state where you genuinely know the regional language.
