NCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026Eligibility Criteria
- Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
- Qualifying degree/diploma/ITI trade must be from an AICTE/BTE/UGC/SCVT/NCVT recognized institute OR from a University established through State/Central legislation which is functional and operational in either Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh State only.
- Qualification must NOT have been passed prior to June 2022 (i.e., result declared on or after June 2022).
- Age: Minimum 18 years, Maximum 26 years as on 01/06/2026. Candidate must have been born between 01/06/2000 and 01/06/2008.
- Qualification must be from a full-time, regular course only. Part-time/correspondence/distance learning qualifications are NOT eligible.
- Candidates possessing higher qualification over and above the prescribed qualification for the applied discipline are NOT eligible. (e.g., a B.Tech holder cannot apply for a Diploma trade slot.)
- Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training, OR are currently pursuing apprenticeship in any industry under the Apprentices Act, OR have job experience of 1 year or more are summarily INELIGIBLE.
- CGPA/GPA must be converted to equivalent percentage as per institute norms, mentioned up to two decimal points. Rounding off is NOT permitted (49.99% = less than 50%).
- Paramedical disciplines additionally require a valid State Registration Certificate from the respective state council.
- For Trade (ITI) disciplines: Candidates must possess National Trade Certificate (NTC) or State Trade Certificate (STC) in the respective trade in addition to the ITI certificate.
- A candidate may apply for ONE position only. Multiple applications will lead to disqualification.

- Step 1 — Portal Registration (Mandatory before applying): Graduate and Diploma candidates must register on NATS 2.0 portal at https://nats.education.gov.in. Trade Apprentice candidates must register on NAPS portal at https://www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in. Note your Enrolment ID.
- Step 2 — Online Application: Apply through the NATS/NAPS portal within the application window (01/06/2026 to 15/06/2026). Enter total marks scored and maximum marks separately. Do NOT round off percentages.
- Step 3 — Merit List Preparation (No Written Exam): For Graduate and Diploma disciplines — merit is drawn based on marks scored in the qualifying degree/diploma (highest scorer ranked first). Two things that eliminate most NCL apprentice applications: First, your qualifying institute/university must be functional and operational in either Uttar Pradesh or Madhya Pradesh — qualifications from institutes in other states are not accepted, even if the degree is from a nationally recognized university. Second, candidates with higher qualifications (e.g., a B.Tech holder applying for an ITI trade slot) are explicitly ineligible. Do NOT apply if you have a qualification above the one prescribed for your chosen trade/discipline. Also, when entering your marks online, enter total marks scored AND maximum marks separately — do not round off; 49.99% will be treated as less than 50%. Submit your NATS/NAPS registration BEFORE filling the NCL application — without an Enrolment ID, your candidature will be cancelled.

Q.1 What is the stipend for NCL Apprentice 2026-27? ▼
Ans: Stipends vary by category. Graduate Apprentices (non-paramedical) receive ₹12,300/month. Diploma Apprentices receive ₹10,900/month. Trade Apprentices get ₹10,560/month (2-year ITI) or ₹9,600/month (ITI Welder, 1-year course). Paramedical Graduate apprentices (Nursing, Physiotherapy, etc.) receive the highest stipend at ₹13,700/month, and Paramedical Diploma apprentices receive ₹12,700/month. Stipends are paid directly to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts.

Ans: The last date to submit the online application through the NATS/NAPS portal is 15 June 2026. Applications open on 01 June 2026. Before applying, candidates must first register on the NATS portal (for Graduate/Diploma) at nats.education.gov.in or NAPS portal (for ITI Trade) at apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and obtain an Enrolment ID. Paper applications are not accepted.

Ans: No. There is no written examination for NCL Apprentice Recruitment 2026-27. Selection is entirely merit-based on qualifying exam marks. For Graduate and Diploma candidates, merit is drawn on qualifying degree marks. For ITI Trade candidates, merit is the average of Matriculation (10th) percentage and NTC/STC Trade Certificate percentage. Since there is no exam, there is no negative marking.

Q.8 Can candidates who already completed apprenticeship apply for NCL Apprentice 2026? ▼
Ans: No. Candidates who have already undergone apprenticeship training under the Apprentices Act, OR are currently pursuing apprenticeship in any industry, OR have job experience of 1 year or more are summarily INELIGIBLE. This is a strict disqualification rule. Similarly, candidates with higher qualifications than what is prescribed for the applied discipline are also not eligible. Only fresh candidates meeting the exact prescribed qualification are eligible.
