JNU Faculty Professor Recruitment 2026Eligibility Criteria
- For Professor (Level-14): (A) Eminent scholar with Ph.D. in concerned/allied/relevant discipline + minimum 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/Scopus/WoS/JAI indexed journals + research score of 120 (as per UGC 2018 Appendix II Table 2) + minimum 10 years teaching experience as Assistant/Associate/Professor in university/college and/or research experience at equivalent level with evidence of having guided doctoral candidates. OR (B) Outstanding professional with Ph.D. from academic institution/industry + significant contribution to knowledge in relevant discipline + 10 years' experience.
- For Associate Professor (Level-13A): Ph.D. in concerned/allied/relevant discipline + Master's degree with at least 55% marks + minimum 8 years teaching and/or research experience at Assistant Professor-equivalent level + minimum 7 publications in peer-reviewed/Scopus/WoS/JAI indexed journals + research score of 75 (as per UGC 2018 Appendix II Table 2).
- For Assistant Professor (Level-10): Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or accredited foreign university + NET/SLET/SET conducted by UGC or CSIR. NET/SLET/SET exemption for candidates who have been awarded Ph.D. degree as per UGC (Minimum Standards for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D.) Regulations, 2009 or 2016.
- Ph.D. NET Exemption (Pre-July 11, 2009): Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to 11 July 2009 are exempt from NET/SLET/SET subject to: Ph.D. awarded in regular mode; thesis evaluated by at least two external examiners; open viva voce conducted; 2 research papers published from Ph.D. work (at least 1 in a refereed journal); 2 conference presentations in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored events.
- Ph.D. from Top-500 Foreign University: NET/SLET/SET not required if Ph.D. from a foreign university ranked in top 500 by QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai) World University Rankings at any time.
- Mark Relaxation: 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) at Bachelor's and Master's level for SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/PwD candidates for purpose of eligibility. Additional 5% relaxation for Ph.D. holders who completed Master's degree prior to 19 September 1991.

This is an interview-based faculty recruitment — there is no written examination or prescribed syllabus. Shortlisting for interview is done based on Academic Score / Research Score as per UGC Regulations 2018 (Appendix II, Table 3A).
