Recruitment Note: About Indian Army

The Indian Army is the land-based branch of the Indian Armed Forces and one of the largest standing armies in the world, operating under the Ministry of Defence. Officers are inducted through multiple entry schemes, including the Short Service Commission (Technical), which specifically targets Engineering graduates for technical arms and services. Recruiting is centrally coordinated by the Directorate General of Recruiting under the Integrated Headquarters of the Ministry of Defence (Army). The Short Service Commission route offers a structured career path with the option to move to a Permanent Commission after ten years of service, making it a widely sought-after entry for engineering graduates seeking a career combining technical work with military service.

💡 Expert Tip

Since this is a combined listing for both men and women courses, the single biggest mistake candidates make is applying for the wrong notification link or missing the fact that men and women have different closing dates — the women's window (SSCW Tech-68) closes a day earlier than the men's window. Also remember that stream mismatch between your degree certificate and your online application is the top reason for cancellation in both courses, so cross-check your exact stream name against the notified list before submitting. Keep your engineering marksheets, provisional/degree certificate, and Class 10 certificate (sole accepted proof of DOB and parents' names) ready in scanned format for a smooth application.

Common Questions (FAQs)
