Short Information: The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection has opened the Common Recruitment Process for Probationary Officers and Management Trainees, known as CRP PO/MT-XVI, for vacancies expected during 2027-28 across 11 Public Sector Banks including Bank of Baroda, Canara Bank, Punjab National Bank and Union Bank of India. A total of 6,715 indicative posts are on offer, with candidates able to apply online from 01 July 2026 to 21 July 2026. Any graduate in any discipline, aged between 20 and 30 years as on 01 July 2026, can apply, with age relaxation extended to SC/ST, OBC and PwBD candidates. Selected Probationary Officers start on a Basic Pay of ₹48,480, which grows through a defined pay scale up to ₹85,920, along with allowances and perquisites as per each bank's rules, making the total package attractive compared to many entry-level government roles. The selection journey runs through an Online Preliminary exam, an Online Main exam covering Reasoning, Banking Awareness, English and Data Analysis, a Personality Test, and a Common Interview conducted by the allotted bank. Since this is an All India cadre, provisionally allotted candidates should be ready for posting anywhere in the country. With banking remaining one of the most sought-after government sectors in India, this CRP cycle gives graduates a structured, once-a-year opportunity to enter Probationary Officer cadre roles across major public sector banks.

💡 Expert Tip

Since IBPS conducts this recruitment on an all-India merit-cum-preference basis, your bank preference order matters as much as your score — once submitted, the order cannot be changed, so rank your preferred banks carefully at the time of registration. Keep your graduation percentage calculation ready in advance: CGPA must be converted to percentage using your university's official formula, and any fraction below the required cutoff, such as 64.99%, is treated as below 65%, not rounded up. Also remember that there is a 0.25 mark penalty for each wrong answer in both Preliminary and Main exams, so avoid guesswork on questions you are unsure about. Candidates using DigiLocker to auto-fill Aadhaar and educational details should still manually verify every field before clicking Complete Registration, since no correction is allowed except through the short Edit Window after the registration period closes.
