Short Information: Bank of Baroda (BOB) is hiring 5,000 Apprentices across 35 States and Union Territories under the Apprentices Act, 1961. This is a structured 12-month On-the-Job Training program — not a regular job — but it carries real weight on your resume when you apply for future banking roles. Selected candidates receive a fixed monthly stipend of ₹15,000 with no deductions, paid at the end of each month. To be eligible, you must hold a Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized university and be between 20 to 28 years of age as on 01 May 2026. Before you even fill the BOB form, you must register on either the NAPS portal (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) or the NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in) — skipping this step means your application will be invalid. Once registered, you will receive an email from BFSI SSC (info@bfsissc.com) with a link to fill the final application form and pay the fees. One important condition: candidates who have already completed one year or more of work experience or training after graduation are not eligible. Also, anyone who has previously undergone apprenticeship training anywhere is disqualified. The online application window is open from 19 May 2026 to 08 June 2026. Apply for one state only — you cannot change your state preference after submission.

Recruitment Note: About Bank of Baroda (BOB)

Bank of Baroda is one of India's largest public sector banks, headquartered in Vadodara, Gujarat. Founded in 1908 by Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III of Baroda, the bank has grown over 118 years into a global financial institution with a presence in 17 countries. Following its amalgamation with Vijaya Bank and Dena Bank in 2019, BOB operates one of the largest branch networks in India with over 8,200 domestic branches and more than 10,000 ATMs. The bank serves over 150 million customers across retail, MSME, corporate, and agricultural segments. BOB is consistently ranked among the top 3 public sector banks in India by total assets and deposit base. For apprentices, BOB offers exposure to its full range of banking operations — from retail lending and digital banking to trade finance — across branches in both urban and semi-urban India. All apprenticeship activities are coordinated through BFSI SSC, the Sector Skill Council for Banking, Financial Services and Insurance.

Recruitment Note: Job Profile — Apprentice

The BOB Apprentice role is a 12-month structured training engagement under the Apprentices Act, 1961 — this is neither a regular employment contract nor a contractual job. Apprentices are designated as 'Trainees' and are not entitled to any employee benefits, provident fund, gratuity, or union membership. During the engagement period, apprentices are deployed at branch level and assist in day-to-day banking operations including account opening, KYC verification, passbook printing, cash counter support, digital banking assistance (mobile banking/internet banking queries), and customer service coordination. They also gain exposure to loan documentation processes, government scheme disbursement, and basic back-office functions. The training is hands-on and branch-specific. At the end of 12 months, apprentices undergo a final assessment and are issued an Apprenticeship Completion Certificate by the government portal — this certificate is recognized by banks and financial institutions and adds significant value when applying for Clerk or Banking Assistant roles in future recruitment drives.

Recruitment Note: Benefits & Perks Beyond Stipend

Since this is a training program under the Apprentices Act and not a regular or contract employment, apprentices are not entitled to standard government job benefits such as DA, HRA, LTC, medical coverage, PF, gratuity, pension, or children's education allowance. The Bank explicitly states that apprentices are not eligible for any allowances or benefits beyond the monthly stipend of ₹15,000. No transport facility, hostel, or residential accommodation is provided during the training period. However, the non-monetary benefits are significant: apprentices receive a government-recognized Apprenticeship Completion Certificate after assessment, gain 12 months of formal banking sector experience which counts towards future job applications, and build familiarity with CBS (Core Banking Solution) systems used across Indian banks. The experience also qualifies as work exposure for NATS/NAPS portal records, which some private sector banks and NBFCs now consider during hiring.

Recruitment Note: Important Terms & Conditions

Candidates must note the following binding conditions before applying: The apprentice has no right to claim employment in Bank of Baroda after the training period ends, and the Bank has no obligation to offer any regular or contract employment post-training. Apprentices are automatically relieved upon completion of the 12-month period. The Bank can cancel the apprenticeship at any point without prior notice in case of misconduct. Apprentices are prohibited from forming or joining any union body. In case of legal disputes, only courts and tribunals in Mumbai have jurisdiction. Candidates must appear for the written exam, language test, and document verification entirely at their own expense — the Bank will not reimburse any travel costs. Any misrepresentation of facts at any stage, including post-engagement, will result in immediate termination and recovery of any stipend already paid.

💡 Expert Tip

The single biggest rejection reason in BOB Apprentice is the Local Language Test — candidates fail it after clearing the written exam and lose everything. Check the state-wise language table carefully before choosing your state. If you have studied the local language in 10th or 12th standard, carry that marksheet to get an exemption from the test. Also, since there is absolutely NO negative marking in the 100-question written exam, attempt every single question — even educated guesses add marks. One more trap to avoid: do NOT submit multiple applications. The bank will forfeit your earlier fee payments and may disqualify your candidature entirely.

Common Questions (FAQs)

Q.1 What is the in-hand salary for BOB Apprentice?
Ans: There is no Pay Level or salary structure for this role — it is a training program under the Apprentices Act 1961. Selected candidates receive a fixed consolidated stipend of exactly ₹15,000 per month. No DA, HRA, or any other allowances are paid. The stipend is credited monthly after adjusting any Loss of Pay.
Q.2 What is the last date to apply online for BOB Apprentice 2026?
Ans: The last date to submit the application and pay the fee is 08 June 2026. However, candidates must first register on the NAPS (apprenticeshipindia.gov.in) or NATS (nats.education.gov.in) portal before they can access the BFSI SSC application link. Do not wait for the last date as portal registrations can take time.
Q.3 Is there any negative marking in the BOB Apprentice exam?
Ans: No. The official notification clearly states there will be NO negative marks for wrong answers in the objective test. The exam has 100 questions worth 100 marks across 4 sections, to be completed in 60 minutes. Candidates should attempt all questions without any fear of penalty.
Q.4 What is the age limit for General category candidates?
Ans: General (UR) and EWS category candidates must be between 20 and 28 years of age as on the cut-off date of 01 May 2026. OBC candidates get 3 years relaxation (up to 31 years). SC/ST candidates get 5 years relaxation (up to 33 years). PwBD candidates get 10, 13, or 15 years depending on their category.
Q.5 How to download the BOB Apprentice Notification PDF?
Ans: The official notification PDF (Advt No. BOB/HRM/APPRENTICE/ADVT/2026/01) can be downloaded from the Bank of Baroda official website at bankofbaroda.bank.in under the 'Current Opportunities' section in the Career page, or from the BFSI SSC website at bfsissc.com. You can also use the direct download link provided on this page.
Q.6 What is the educational qualification required for BOB Apprentice?
Ans: Candidates must hold a Graduation Degree in any discipline from a recognized University, or any equivalent qualification recognized by the Central Government. For candidates registered under NATS, the date of passing graduation must not be more than 4 years before the cut-off date of 01 May 2026. Final year students are NOT eligible — degree must be complete.
Q.7 What is the selection process for BOB Apprentice 2026?
Ans: Selection involves 4 stages: (1) Online Written Examination of 100 marks in 60 minutes covering Financial Awareness, Quantitative & Reasoning Aptitude, Computer Knowledge, and English. (2) Local Language Proficiency Test for the applied state — candidates who studied the language in 10th/12th are exempt. (3) Document Verification. (4) Medical Fitness check as per Bank's requirements.
Q.8 Is BOB Apprentice a permanent government job?
Ans: No. This is strictly a 12-month training engagement under the Apprentices Act 1961. Apprentices are designated as Trainees — not employees — and have no right to claim regular employment after training ends. Bank of Baroda has no obligation to offer any job post-training. However, the Apprenticeship Completion Certificate issued is a recognized credential in the banking sector.
