APSC Home Guards Class I Recruitment 2026Eligibility Criteria
- Candidate must be an Indian Citizen as defined in Articles 5 to 8 of the Constitution of India.
- Candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam. Valid Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) issued in Assam for educational purpose OR Employment Exchange Registration Certificate is acceptable as domicile proof.
- Minimum educational qualification: Graduate in any discipline from a University recognized by the Government.
- All semester/year mark sheets reflecting subjects AND the final pass certificate must be uploaded.
- Age: Minimum 21 years and maximum 38 years as on 01/01/2026.
- PwBD Category: Not applicable for this post.
- Candidates already in regular Government service (permanent or temporary, but not casual/ad-hoc/daily wages/contract) must upload a certificate from the competent authority. Candidates seeking pay protection or continuation in service must additionally upload a No Objection Certificate (NOC).
- All candidates must submit a declaration regarding 'The Small Family Norms' in Form-A as per Govt. Notification No. ABP.69/2019/17 dated 06/11/2019.
- A character certificate from the Principal/Academic Officer of the last attended institution and from two respectable persons (not relatives) must be produced at the time of interview.
- Ex-Servicemen must upload Ex-Servicemen Identity Card issued by Zila Sainik Welfare Office of Assam and Discharge Book while applying for the reserved post.

- Stage 1: Written Examination — Paper-I: General Ability & Intelligence Test (200 Marks, Objective Type, English medium)
- Stage 2: Written Examination — Paper-II: General Studies, Essay & Comprehension (200 Marks; Essay in English or Assamese, Comprehension/Precis in English only)
- Note: Paper-I is evaluated first. Paper-II evaluation done only for candidates clearing minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I.

- Stage 4: Physical Efficiency Test (PET) — 100m race, 800m race, Long Jump (conducted by SLPRB, centrally at Guwahati)

Recruitment Details: Medical Standards
- Eye Sight: Minimum distant vision 6/6 and 6/9 in two eyes without correction (no glasses). Candidates who have had LASIK surgery must have completed at least 6 months post-surgery.
- Ear: No deafness, persistent discharge, atresia, exostosis, neoplasm, recurrent earache, tinnitus or vertigo.
- Nose: No DNS, atrophic rhinitis, tubercular ulceration, or chronic sinusitis.
- Neck: No enlarged lymph nodes, thyroid swelling, or disease of spine/cervical vertebrae.
- Teeth: Must have sufficient sound teeth for mastication. No severe pyorrhea.
- Skin: No chronic skin diseases like leprosy, chronic dermatitis, extensive Pityriasis Versicolor, psoriasis, or SLE.
- General: No TB, arthritis, high blood pressure, diabetes, bronchial asthma, or heart disease.
- Cardiac: Pulse rate must be between 50–100 per minute (no tachycardia or bradycardia).
- Others: No varicose veins, knock knees, hernia, haemorrhoids, genitourinary disease, or congenital defects.
- Weight: Proportionate to height and age as per medical standards.
- Speech: No stammering or impediment.
- Mental Health: Must be in good mental and bodily health, free from physical defects likely to interfere with duty.
