- For Assistant Professor (Medical Candidates): A medical qualification included in Schedule I & II or Part II of the third Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 + Postgraduate qualification (MD/MS/DM/M.Ch. as applicable to the speciality) from a recognized institution + 3 years teaching/research experience in the subject of specialty after the qualifying PG degree. (For super-specialty posts: 1 year experience after DM/M.Ch.)
- For Assistant Professor (Non-Medical Candidates — applicable for Anatomy, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Physiology): Master's Degree in the relevant discipline/allied subject + PhD/Doctorate Degree from a recognized University + 3 years teaching/research experience in the discipline/subject after obtaining the Doctorate Degree.

Shortlisting of Assistant Professor candidates is based on the Objective Screen Score (OSS) — a 75-mark scoring system evaluating academic achievements, research publications, and teaching activities.
