- Basic Qualification (UGC Norms): Master's degree with minimum 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in concerned/relevant/allied subject from a recognized Indian University or accredited foreign University.
- NET/SET Mandatory (unless exempted): Candidates must have cleared NET (UGC/CSIR) or SET or equivalent. Ph.D. holders under UGC Regulations 2009/2016 are exempted from NET/SET.
- NET/SET Exemption via Ph.D.: Ph.D. awarded under UGC (Minimum Standards & Procedure) Regulations 2009 or 2016. Must be certified by Registrar/Dean (Academic Affairs) of the concerned University.
- Ph.D. registered before 11 July 2009: Exempted from NET/SET if: (a) Ph.D. in regular mode, (b) thesis evaluated by at least 2 examiners, (c) open viva conducted, (d) 2 research papers published (at least 1 in refereed journal), (e) 2 papers presented in UGC/ICSSR/CSIR-sponsored conferences.

Q.8 Can candidates with specializations different from those listed in the notification apply? ▼
Ans: Yes. The specializations listed against each department code are indicative and desirable, not mandatory. As per clause (xxv)(e) of the notification, candidates who possess the minimum qualifications as per UGC norms for the post of Assistant Professor — even if their specialization differs from what is specified — may also apply for that department. The department will assess subject suitability at the interview stage.
