Recruitment Note: Nature of Engagement — Important Clarifications

All positions under this notification are Individual Consultant engagements — NOT regular RITES employment. Consultants have the legal status of Independent Consultants and are not RITES employees or officials. No employer-employee relationship is established. Consequently, there is NO PF, NO ESI, NO Gratuity, and NO other statutory benefits applicable. Payment is purely for services rendered, released within one week after month-end. The engagement is temporary and RITES can terminate it at any time without reason, with 1 month's notice in normal course. Similarly, the consultant can resign with 1 month's notice. The actual start of work depends on project award and client requirement — issuance of an engagement letter does not guarantee immediate deployment.

Individual Consultants at RITES receive a fixed monthly fee (₹40,000 to ₹1,30,000 depending on role), paid within one week of month-end based on attendance. Leave entitlement: 1.5 days per completed month, no accumulation beyond a calendar year. Women consultants are eligible for Maternity Leave as per the Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act, 2017. GST as applicable is admissible to the consultant. Income Tax is deducted at source. No TA/DA for joining or exit. No TA/DA for attending interview. No PF, no ESI, no Gratuity, no HRA, no LTC — these statutory and service benefits applicable to regular employees do NOT apply to Individual Consultants.

All intellectual property created during consultancy belongs exclusively to RITES. Consultants are bound by the Indian Official Secrets Act, 1923 regarding disclosure of project information. Police verification will be conducted — a negative report immediately terminates the contract. Any dispute is referred to the CMD, RITES Limited for arbitration.

💡 Expert Tip

Three things matter most for RITES Individual Consultant selection: First, your experience certificate must clearly show continuity — gaps in employment without documentation will be treated as zero experience. For current employment, bring last 3 months salary slips or Form 16 as proof. Second, candidates can apply for multiple VC numbers in one go — but each requires a separate online application. Third, the final engagement letter depends on client approval of your CV — even after clearing the RITES interview, if the client rejects your profile, there is no engagement. So tailor your CV specifically around Railway infrastructure experience matching the VC you apply for.
