Short Information: Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), one of India's most prestigious Central PSUs under the Department of Atomic Energy, is hiring 255 Category-II Stipendiary Trainee/Technicians (ST/TN) at its Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KKNPP) in Tamil Nadu. This recruitment covers 8 trades: Plant Operator, Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, and Welder.
During the 2-year training period, selected candidates receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000 (Year 1) and ₹22,000 (Year 2), plus a one-time book allowance of ₹3,000. After successfully completing training with at least 60% marks, trainees are absorbed as Technician/B at Pay Level-3 (₹21,700 basic pay), with DA at 60% adding ₹13,020 — making the approximate take-home salary ₹34,720 per month, plus HRA, Transport, and other allowances.
For Plant Operator, the minimum qualification is 12th (HSC/ISC) with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with at least 50% aggregate. For all other trades (Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Welder, Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation Mechanic), the requirement is 10th pass with minimum 50% marks in Science and Maths individually, plus a 2-year ITI certificate in the relevant trade.

NPCIL KKNPP Stipendiary Trainee Recruitment 2026Eligibility Criteria
- Must be an Indian National aged 18 years and above.
- Plant Operator: HSC (10+2) or ISC with Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) with minimum 50% aggregate marks. English must have been studied at least at SSC (10th) level.
- All other trades (Electronics Mechanic, Instrumentation Mechanic, Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Welder): SSC (10th) with minimum 50% marks in Science subject(s) AND Mathematics individually + 2-year ITI certificate in the relevant trade. For trades where ITI duration is less than 2 years, 1 year of relevant post-qualification experience is additionally required.
- English must have been studied as one of the subjects at least at SSC (10th) level for all trades.
- Candidates must have already passed the qualifying examination as on 29.06.2026 (last date of application). Awaited result candidates are NOT eligible.
- Percentage of marks: Fraction is ignored (59.99% = 59%). No rounding up allowed. Enter exact percentage to 2 decimal places.
- Science in 10th marksheet: 'Science and Technology' = Science. If Physical Science and Life Science are shown separately, average of both is taken. Social Science is NOT counted as Science.
- National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) of 3-year duration will NOT be considered where the essential qualification is a 2-year ITI.
- One year apprenticeship training after 1-year ITI course counts as 1 year experience. Internship period does NOT count as experience.
- Candidates in NPCIL on contract/Fixed Term Basis must produce relevant experience certificate at document verification.
- Candidates working in Central/State Govt/PSU/Aided Institutions must produce NOC from present employer at document verification.
- OBC (NCL) and EWS certificates must be issued on or after 01.04.2026 (based on income for FY 2025-26).
- NPCIL follows only the Central Government List for SC/ST/OBC — State Government lists are NOT accepted.
- Project Affected Persons (PAPs) of KKNPP get relaxed qualification (40% aggregate for Plant Operator; pass in SSC for ITI trades) and 20% bonus marks in all stages.
