The 130 Infantry Battalion (Territorial Army) Ecological, KUMAON is a specialized unit under the Indian Territorial Army, functioning under the Ministry of Defence in coordination with the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF & CC). Ecological Infantry Battalions (TA) were raised with the unique mandate of afforestation, eco-restoration, and environmental conservation activities across India. These units employ ex-servicemen and ex-forest department personnel as soldiers to carry out ecological and afforestation missions.
